Boxing Rankings Update: Dalton Smith Enters Junior Welterweight Top 10 as Catterall Shifts Weight

Jack Catterall's move up in weight allows a new fighter to enter the top 10 at junior welterweight. Here are the latest ESPN divisional rankings.

A slow week in boxing saw minimal movement in the divisional rankings, except for a notable change in the junior welterweight division.

Jack Catterall's welterweight debut resulted in a technical decision victory over Harlem Eubank due to an accidental headbutt causing a cut, ending the fight prematurely. Despite Catterall's win in Manchester, England, it wasn't enough to earn him a spot in the top 10 of the competitive welterweight division.

However, Catterall's departure from the 140-pound division opened the door for Dalton Smith, who now enters the rankings at No. 10.

In other action, Joe Cordina made a successful return, rebounding from his TKO loss to Anthony Cacace with a dominant decision win over Jaret Quiroz in a lightweight bout.

Additionally, super middleweight Sergiy Derevyanchenko fought for the first time since his defeat by Christian Mbilli, securing a Round 6 knockout against Jeremy Ramos in Nashville, Tennessee.

Boxing Rankings Explained

ESPN's divisional boxing rankings showcase the top fighters across all weight classes. Rankings are adjusted based on recent results and performances. Fighters transitioning to a new weight class are ranked in that division only after competing in it. Boxers holding titles in multiple divisions may be ranked in each.

Fighters inactive for 12 months without a scheduled fight are removed from the rankings until their return. Any fighter testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs will also be removed but can re-enter after their next fight.
